awesome things we found this week

The Casual Blogger Community is getting a DIRECTORY of awesome blogs.  Which is cool, you know, if you like reading awesome blogs.

I think this book looks cool.  Probably because I'm really horrible at kitchen stuff.  And also I need the easy to make recipes and ideas.  And also because this author has a ridiculously cool blog that has even more awesome recipes and ideas.  And I like it.

These girls are adorable. The girl on the right - I LOVE HER HAIR (seriously dying of cuteness overload here). Plus it's spring here and there's "popcorn" on our trees outside. So this video is awesome.

And also -
WE'RE HAVING A HUGE BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY  EXTRAVAGANZA WEEK STARTING ON MONDAY!!!!!!

Just so you know.

(It's going to be huge.)

Freebie Friday

So we're really busy right now doing something awesome.  I can't tell you what it is we're doing though.

All I can say is it has something to do with it being OUR BIRTHDAY (2 years - we're getting old).

And also that it's happening next week.

And also that it may or may not include an entire week long spectacular giveaway extravaganza where we'll be giving away all sorts of awesome stuff from our favorite LDS companies (and a few non-LDS, yet still awesome ones too).

But honestly, I can't tell you why we're so busy.

My lips are sealed.

In the meantime, for our Freebie this week we're just giving you this code:  FREEgame  which will get you a file folder game of your choice, on the house.  As in FREE.  (Worth $2.49)

And you better come back to our blog on monday for that thing that we're not telling you about that involves insane amounts of giveaways.....or doesn't.

journaling and photos

Let's talk about scrapbooking.

We all know that it's important to keep a journal, and to take lots and lots of pictures of our kids (because it's no secret that they literally grow over night).  Scrapbooking is essentially putting both journaling and pictures together in one neat little package.  It's brilliant really.

With everything being digital these days -digital photos, journaling on blogs, THE INTERNET- it kind of makes sense to digital scrapbook too.  (At least in the logical parts of MY brain, it does.)  But it can be intimidating to open a program like Photoshop and try to figure out a page layout.  Unless you use programs like Photoshop a lot, they're not exactly easy to just "pick up" (not to mention they are super PRICEY).

So, that's why I like MyMemories Suite.  It's super easy to use - there's really no learning curve on it because it's so user friendly.  It's also the number one-rated scrapbook software by Top Ten Reviews online (for several years running), plus the top selling scrapbook software on Amazon, so it's obviously really great - even if you don't want to just take my word for it.

I had mentioned a discount code a few weeks ago - it's working now - and you can still use it.  YAY!

Using the code SAVEMOM50 will get you 50% off MyMemories Suite (which just makes it even more affordable, like $20 for the ENTIRE software affordable).

AND
The Last Supper file folder game is ONLY $1.

HAPPY EASTER!

awesome things we found this week

Our list is short this week - but still awesome.

You can get some printable Visiting Teaching handouts for April FOR FREE over at MMB Community. (And they're cute.)

MormonDaddyBlogs.com
Did you know there is  Mormon Daddy Blog Community?  Yeah, me neither.  BUT THERE IS!  And it's pretty studly and super duper fab (in a masculine way.)   Send your husband on over and he can see that blogging isn't just for women, weird men or internet predators - all the cool guys are doing it too.

Are you a digital scrapbooker?  If you're not, you should be.  Especially once you see how fun and EASY it is with My Memories Suite.  And just think about how great it will be to go through all the scrapbooks with your grandkids someday.  Not to mention, digital scrapbooking is a superb way to keep a family journal - which is something we all should be doing anyway.  So, GOOD NEWS, if you use the code: SAVEMOM50 when you buy My Memories Suite, you can get 50% off the software.  (That's practically a steal - especially since it's the number one rated digital scrapbooking software.)

And our last awesome thing is this really great Easter video from the Mormon Channel (it made me cry - I can never wear mascara when I watch the Mormon Channel videos.)

another way to get FREE stuff

How would you like to see YOUR IDEA as a Green Jello with Carrots product?

Sometimes we get emails from customers asking for products for Scouts or Activity Days or RS Birthday Dinners, etc.  Those emails are great, but when we sit down to make new products we aren't entirely sure what would be the most helpful, best product to make for Activity Days or Scouts or whatever.  What we really need some inside information.

So this is where you come in, and thereby get something awesome in return.

If you want to see a certain product on Green Jello with Carrots, email us with your useful, original, awesome idea and we'll create the product and give it to you FOR FREE.

Of course there are some limitations on this deal (there are always limitations - it's how the world works.)  So here's how it will basically work:

1- You email us your idea - it must be:
     a) Specific, ie. "a card game in which I can teach my Activity Days girls about the Holy Ghost, with this list of different options for cards..."
    b) Original. Being similar to something you've seen before is one thing. Totally stealing someone else's idea?  Something entirely different.  No stealing, mkay?

     c) Email your idea to info@greenjellowithcarrots.com

2- We create the products on our own schedule.  Please don't email us on tuesday morning and expect us to whip up something for your RS Birthday dinner on wednesday night.  That's just insane.  We'll get the products done.....when we get them done.  We'll try to be timely about it, but no promises.

3- We will not create every product that will be suggested to us.  I'm sorry, but some ideas just won't fit our customers needs, or our schedules.  So, suggest really good ideas, ok?

4- If we make the product that you suggested, we'll email you the files for FREE before we upload it to our shop.  But:
     a) If you've suggested the same exact product as someone else - we will only give it to the FIRST person who suggested it.
    b) If it seems like you should get it for free, but aren't - it's probably because of stipulation "a".

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT.

So yeah, let us know your product suggestions, and get free stuff for being SO AWESOME.  (Because you ARE awesome.  Otherwise, why would be asking for your input?)

awesome things we found this week

Here are some super fab things that we here at Green Jello with Carrots are LOOOOOVING this week:

You can get a free, and SUPER CUTE, April computer desktop theme over at Leelou Blogs.  Don't be a dork - change your desktop theme (it's been like what? TWO years since you last did it......oh wait, that's me.)

I'm saddened that had no idea this existed:
Read all about Ogden's Dinosaur Park in the review over at Local Community Hot Spots.  And maybe next time we're in the area we'll see you there.  (My sons are already making plans.)

For all of you fabulous bloggers - go include your post in the Post of the Week at Casual Blogger Community.  Because it's fun.  And you get to show off your best post.  (Fame and fun - two of my favorite things.)

There is this really cool etsy shop that sells THE CUTEST leather keychains I've ever EVER seen.  ever. See?

And if that weren't incentive enough to check them out (even though it should be) they also have this super cute printable (and FREE) Easter egg holder on their blog.  It looks like a rabbit is holding the egg.  I know - so cute.

Do you remember the movie Singles Ward?  Sadly, I think that some LDS comedies are.....how shall I say this......NOT FUNNY.  But I loved Singles Ward - hilarious.  Truly.  It was the first movie I saw with Kirby Heyborne in it.  I think he's been in about 5 trillion movies/commercials/shows since then, but did you also know that he's a singer/songwriter?  No?  ME EITHER.  But he is.  And he's good!  But before I show you this video I just wanted to give you the links to his blog and a place you can buy his music (which is what I think I'll be doing now.)  Ok, now you can watch this:

Yeah, well, we haven't forgotten.

It's just that it's taking us much much longer than we anticipated.  (It's because we're trying really super hard to offer quality products that actually help you teach your children AND are cute.)  So we thought we'd give you another little teaser of the awesomeness that will be WeeSmart.  (And eventually we may actually get the website up and running...)

FOR TODAY ONLY (as in friday April 8, 2011)  YOU CAN GET THIS FOR FREE:

WHEN YOU PURCHASE THIS:

Here's how:

books BOOKS books

So, who likes to read?

OOOOOOOH, oooh, ME!  I do!!

I like reading a lot.  Books are my escape when reality is just too.....real.  But I don't like to take my reading casually.  As in, a few minutes there, a few minutes here, a few minutes last week.  Although, I do actually do that, what I really like to do is to sit down and read an entire book in one sitting.  Those are days when I shut down the computer, pull my blinds and hide my phone under a random pile of ignored laundry.  Those are the days that keep me sane.

Here are a couple of my more recent reads that I can't help but sharing.  They're not only fabulous books, they're also written by a couple of fabulous blogging friends and LDS authors.

"Miss Delacourt Has Her Day" by super fantastic (and Guitar Hero expert) Heidi Ashworth is amazing.

It is a sequel and you really must read the first book "Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind" because they are both SO INCREDIBLY ENTERTAINING.

It's a regency romance and takes place back when society had rules and manners reigned supreme.  Except that not every one was as willing to go along with the rules as the rest of society, making things funny/interesting/and super super awesome.  (Not that we couldn't use a few more manners in today's world, but all the societal rules back then would have been enough to do me in.)

Miss Delacourt is a supremely likable character in both books and Sir Anthony, despite the imagery of puff pantaloons, is enough to sweep any woman off their feet (I'd stow away in his hot air balloon ANY day.)

Seriously, read both of Heidi's books.  NOW.  It's totally worth ignoring the phone/computer/life for a day.  Trust me.

"The List" by Melanie Jacobson was one of the very first digital books I read when I got my new iPad.  (I'd never had a device on which to read digital books before, and let me tell you - - AWESOOOOOME.)

Honestly, this book falls into a genre of reading I generally ignore - LDS Young Adult Romance.  I'm sure there are plenty of great books that also fall into that category, but I've seen to many: "My testimony flared as I looked into his eyes and I knew with every fiber of my being that he was THE ONE."  Barf.  So when I started reading "The List" I just kind of dipped my toe in, you know, in case it was too sappy.  But quickly I realized there was no need for toe dipping and I dived right in, whole heartedly.

The book is HILARIOUS.  I loved it.  (It may have even changed my mind about the entire genre.)  And it really made me want to reverse time so that I could write my own list and have adventures...and learn how to surf....and have a summer fling with a beach hottie.

So yeah, digital copy or the real live actual book - you must read "The List" (especially with summer coming up - perfect timing, that.)

Freebie Friday

This weekend, if you buy our new I Love Conference file folder game, you can get our HUGE General Conference 2 Packet FOR FREE.

Just put both of them in your cart, sign in and enter the code: conferenceFUN for the discount.

And if you still just need more free things (who doesn't need more free things?  You'd have to be weird to turn down free stuff) there are some of the CUTEST conference packets for different age ranges from Scriptures4Kids and Sugardoodle.  The nursery aged kit has a General Authorities chain (you know like those linked paper dolls where they're all holding hands - except that they're all General Authorities).  I think I died of cuteness overload when I saw them.

So yeah - get our free Conference packet and then head over to Sugardoodle.net and get their free kits too.  You're kids will be in a wonderland of General Conference entertainment ALL WEEKEND.  (Which mean you might not even have to bribe them with candy, and you'll still get to listen to conference uninterrupted!)
